ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS

1. What do you understand by sorting a range of cells?

ANS-  Sorting a range of cells means rearranging the data within that selected group of cells in a specific order, such as ascending or descending, based on the values in one or more columns or rows

2. Name the two types of sorting. Explain with an example.

ANS2  In Microsoft Excel, sorting is the process of arranging data in a specific order to make it easier to analyze or present. There are several types of sorting available in Excel:

The SORT function is a search and reference function in MS Excel that enables sorting the contents of a range of matrices based on four arguments: Alphabetical: Sort your texts alphabetically, from A to Z or Z to A. Numeric: Sorts data in ascending order (smallest to largest) or descending order (largest to smallest)

example-  amit sanjay rohit mohit govind

ascending order- amit govind mohit rohit sanjay

descending order- amit govind mohit rohit sanjay

salary- 25000 20000 18000 15000 12000 16000

ascending order- 12000 15000 16000 18000  20000 25000

Descending order-  25000 20000 18000 16000 15000 12000

Excel's custom sorting feature allows users to sort data based on predefined lists or specific criteria.

Q3. What is filtering of data?

Ans3. In Microsoft Excel, filtering data is the process of displaying only the rows that meet specific criteria, while hiding the restThis allows users to focus on a subset of data without deleting or rearranging it. Filter helps to retrieve data to edit, analyse, format or print. Filter enable to compare data in many ways.

Q4. What is the difference between sorting and filtering?

ANS4. Sorting and filtering are both data manipulation techniques, but they serve different purposes. Sorting arranges data in a specific order (ascending or descending) based on one or more criteria. Filtering, on the other hand, displays only the data that meets certain criteria, hiding the rest

Q5. Explain the concept of formatting cells based on a condition with the help of an example.

Answer- Conditional formatting is a feature in spreadsheets, that automatically applies formatting (like colors, fonts, border) to cells or text based on predefined rules or conditions

For example - Highlight the marks of the students who got marks greater than 80 with green colored text.
