REPRESENTATION OF DATA IN EXCEL 2016

 

Chart -chart is a pictorial representation of data used to compare, analyze, observe patterns and trends in data.

Advantages of charts:

1. They present data in a more attractive way.
2. The make it easy to compare and understand data.

Components of a Chart
1. 
Data Series: data entries from which a chart is derived.
2. 
X-Axis: horizontal axis (also known as category axis).
3. 
Y-Axis: vertical axis (also known as value axis).
4. 
Chart Title: tells what the chart represents.
5. 
Chart Area: covers all the components of the chart.
6. 
Plot Area: area bounded by the two axes.
7. 
Legend: identifies each data series by giving a unique color or pattern to each data series.

8. Gridlines: lines that run from X Axis and Y axis.

 

A.Fill in the blanks

1.  COLUMN chart represents information in vertical bars.

2.  SCATTER.. chart is used to compare pairs of value.

3.  X-axis or CATEGORY axis is the horizontal axis of the chart.

4.  GRIDLINES…..shows the exact value of each data points in a chart.

5.  To add data table, I should go to DESIGN tab.

Ans1. chart is a pictorial representation of data. Charts are used to compare, analyze, observe patterns and trends in data.

3.Compare the column and bar charts.

·         Ans3. Column Chart: This chart displays data using vertical bars. Each bar represents a category, and the height of the bar indicates the value of that category. It is the most commonly used chart for comparing different sets of information.

  • Bar Chart: This chart uses horizontal bars to represent data. Each bar's length corresponds to the value of the category it represents. It helps to compare individual items quickly and easily.

4.Do you think it is important to add a chart title and axis title to a chart?

Ans- Yes, it is important to add a chart title and axis titles to a chart because both chart and axis titles improve communication, interpretation, and overall effectiveness of the chart.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.      How will you move a chart to another worksheet?

   Ans5. Steps to Move a Chart to Another Worksheet:

1.On the design tab, in the location group, click Move Chart. The Move chart dialog box appears.

2.In the object in, select any of the existing worksheets.

To move the char to a new worksheet, click the New sheet radio button and type the name of the new worksheet.

3.Click Ok
